It has survived for 3 days on the ground so far & seems to be getting stronger.

Will it be able to fly off from the floor when ready?

Only problem is my dog!!!!!!!

  1. No take it to the vet. if it is in a good condition they will keep it till they think it is strong enough and if it is going to struggle they will put it down:(

    Hope I helped

  2. If it has feathers just leave it, the mum will be looking after it.  All fledgelings go to the ground for a few days to learn to find food and fly, the mothers come and go to feed it, but they won't if you are around!

  3. DONT TOUCH IT!!!! once the mom smells your scent on it she wont accept it and denies its her baby that has happened plenty of times with me and once i tried putting it back and the mom did not feed it. Keep the dog out of the yard for a rew days until the baby can fly

  4. Leave it alone  mum will look after it  ,  Just keep dog out of the way for a few days,    Would the dog hurt it?   Or just be curious.

  5. If you can reach the nest then I would put it back in, thats what we did when a little bird fell out of of its nest in our garden because all the birds were going crazy and we didnt want our dog to hurt it..... And its mother was happy then just make sure you wash your hands really well afterwards

  6. There should be a wildlife rescue service in your area which can help put the bird back in the nest or raise it in an aviary and then release it when it is old enough to survive alone. Ring your local council and they will be able to give you a contact number. Keep the dog indoors until then.

  7. If its mum is still around, just leave it. Try to keep your dog indoors/ away fro the bird. If it's still there in a few days, loom for a nest and place it back. Other than that, there's not really a lot you can do.

  8. Cant you get a ladder and try putting it back in its nest?

Chances are it'll de on the floor, through lack of nutrition and predators

  9. I'd leave it... if it's touched by someone it will be totally abandoned by it's mum... just let nature take its course

    Maj

  10. hi pick it up birds dont like being on the floor as cats, foxes, rats, and much more can get them best be up high

  11. Leave it, you may scare off it's Mother then it will die.

  12. Just keep an eye on your dog for a bit.  The little one will get stronger and soon be able to flutter it's way into a low tree or a shrub.  They are quite amazing; they grow so fast!

If you're worried about cats in the neighborhood, you could put on a pair of gloves and "help" the little guy/girl up into a shrub.  Pick something with lots of branches and leaves for baby to take shelter in.  If Mom gives you a rough time, just back off.

  13. Birds survival rates are pretty bad!! So help it if you can??

It's not always that easy but good on ya for trying mate...

  14. Now, that is a situation. O.k. I'm pretty sure that most birds are aggressive. After-all, they are descendants of dinosaurs.

I'd put baby bird back in the nest and let mama do her thing in nature. As for pooch, well...you can easily put the dog into the garage or in the house can't ya? You've shown allot of character by posting this question though. I'll google a what to do in the event of a fallen birdy question and see what I come up with, and edit this question with an update. How's that. Hang in there little birdy. Mama loves you. O.k., now that was a little lame.

  15. Awww I would try and put back in nest if you can, otherwise let nature take its course.  We have had to watch helplessly this year while baby birds have fallen and die....we couldnt do anything to help other than keep the cat away...nests are way to high in trees!!

    Good Luck

  16. Keep your dog away

He will fly when he is strong enough - or his mother will pick him up

As long as its mother is looking after it - its fine

    - if she rejects it - leave it some bread and seeds ect. - but dont go near it

  17. oooh Keep it safe from your dog. and don't worry nature will take full care of li'l one. heeeee

  18. When some birds fledge, the young bird stays on the ground for some time while it grows. The parents continue to feed their chicks, and usually there's more than one, and this is a part of survival strategy for the species. The parents will keep one chick in each of several reasonably secure places.

I think it's best to leave well alone but if You're really concerned ask the RSPB.

  19. It's mum will take it back to the nest, try and keep your dog away till then.

  20. if you touch it the mother will reject it try

    keeping dog away ,!!
