  1. you should get rid of them they are nesting in the plants....this is why i had to get rid of mine....nothing kept them away

  2. They are called aphids and they can be either black or green and they are a nightmare but this is how you can get rid of them without having to go out and buy sprays and chemicals ......Home remedy for aphids. You can kill aphids by spraying, especially under the leaves, with a solution of 2 tsp mild dish or laundry soap to a bottle of luke warm water. The soap washes off the aphid’s protective waxy coating and causes dehydration. You can also mix three parts luke warm water to one part vegetable or horticultural oil and a couple drops of dish soap. This mixture can be sprayed on to clog the respiratory spiracles of aphids.  Spray once a week taking turns between solutions............. I hope that helps, we have loads of plants and you always find that the black flies or ''aphids'' come for no aparent reason but they are easy enough to get rid of :-)

  3. make a solution of water and cigarette butts and spray the plants - have a star

  4. i guess you have new soil? they will disappear after a while without doing anything...

otherwise, my granny says to stick some garlic into the soil.

ive had them too. and the garlic worked a wee bit.

  5. Probably you should take the plants away, or stick some special tape on the ceiling that catches any fly or insect that flies on it, it's really sticky and they die up there. Ask any house or gardening shop about that.

  6. Put a layer of sand or gravel over the dirt in the pots and make sure there's no stagnant water underneath.  I had them bad but once I cut off the surface moisture they disappeared.
