  1. A plastic bag on his hand is the best way to go.  As for the scars - I recently had surgery on my knee & ankle and I've found that rubbing Cod Liver Oil (break open a capsule and use the oil inside of it) has done WONDERS for reducing my scars - you might try it now, while the incisions are still fresh so he doesn't have bad scars later on in life.

Good Luck - stuff like this is scary!

  2. put his hand in a plastic bag and tape it around the end. then you help him keep it out of directcontactc with water. or you could go to a medical supply store and buy a special water proof bag. yes they do have them.

  3. Haha! Sounds like my little brother, just hold his hand while he has the bath to make sure it doesn't get wet...but only if he doesn't mind you in the room lol, hold it out of the water. Thats what my mum did when my brother broke his arm.

    Good luck.

  4. The plastic bag is a great idea, but you could put it on yourself first, put your hand in the shower in front of the boy, then take the bag off & let him feel your hand. in doing that it might re-assure him that having a bag on his hand will keep his stitches dry.

Good Luck. I hope his hand heals soon. X :-)

  5. you could put a rubber glove on that hand, or a ziploc bag if you don't have gloves, wrap it in saran wrap, or just get him to hold it out of the shower.

    no water, no fear :)

    good luck!
