Little brothers self esteem?

My bro is 9 and he just found out he has to get glasses. He doesnt have very much confidence and it has made him pretty upset. How can we let him know that he looks fine??

Maybe try showing him pictures of successful people with glass like celebrity's and how the think "shades are cool" and that maybe he can get cool expensive prescribe glasses.

But of course stress to him that people wont be looking at his glasses if hes confident. and its not what it is, its how you where them. if he makes him cool, all the kids will think they're cool. i remember being like 7 -8 and thinking they were cool cause the cool girl would wear glasses.

Let him know about all the cool people/celebrities who wear glasses (eg: Jamie Lynn Spears, Leo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Madonna . . .) or cartoons if that's what he's into (eg: Simon from Alvin and the Chipmunks, or Chicken Little, Jan from Brady Bunch).  If all else fails, remind him that he can see better with his glasses on!

go on the internet and look up some famous people with glasses - esp. famous kids....  

help him to pick out some that aren't so geeky and give him lots of complements.  

My daughter is a great help to me when we have to do things like this for my son -- he really does respect her opinion.  

I think it's wonderful that you care so much about your little brother and are concerned.

Just have a nice pretty girl his age to give him a compliment about his glasses.
