Little brown bugs?

Question

So I was sitting on my couch one afternoon and I felt a pain in my arm that felt like pinching. I looked at my arm and there sat a little brown bug, I flicked it away and then all of a sudden the place it sat started squirting out some blood. I tried to find out what it is and people say it was an earwig so I looked at a picture of an earwig and it was definitely not that! Any other guesses to what that might have been?

I would guess a flea or possibly a tick, both are nasty little things and they enjoy the warm weather and moisture. I suggest cleaning the wound then vacuuming every day for a couple of days.
