Little hope for next season - Bruno Senna
The already struggling Brazilian driver, Bruno Senna got struck with yet another hard blow as his former team, HRT, announced the dismissal of the driver from the squad for the upcoming season.
The 2011 Formula One season will kick off this March with the curtain raiser, Brazilian Grand Prix, while the first pre-season practice session is scheduled to begin on February 1st. With very little time left now, the driver does not see a lot of hope for
getting a race seat for the next season.
The nephew of the late triple world champion, Ayrton Senna, had a lot to live up to as he entered the sport at the start of the 2010 season. However, the abortive debut season, with a team that kept on facing problems all through the season did not allow
the driver to show his real mettle on the track.
Finally, at the time when he was planning to wash off the disappointments of this season with strong performances next year, the team boss, Colin Kolles announced, "I can definitely say that Mr Bruno Senna is not going to race for HRT. One hundred per cent
not."
This not only took away his hope of proving himself, but has also endangered his Formula One career. While talking to the media the disappointed driver said, "Maybe he is right. The situation is a bit difficult in F1 right now...I didn't really have the
opportunity to show what I could do last year because of various problems and that didn't help me for this season. We are in talks for the few opportunities that are still open but I can't say it's very easy at the moment. Even Nico (Hulkenberg) is struggling
to find a competitive seat.” Senna believes that the current situation in the sport might lead to the waste of a lot of talent.
However, while talking about his future, the Brazilian said, "I hope I can take any opportunities that are available...you never know."
Senna has failed to bag even a single point all through the last year, just like all the other three drivers of the team that kept exchanging seats from time to time. However, HRT is optimistic for the upcoming season.
Moreover, the team also believes that many of its financial problems will be over after having signed the Indian driver, Narain Karthikeyan, for next season. Karthikeyan brings the big sponsor, Indian car manufacturer Company, TATA with him.
