Ok, so, I help my mom work in summer camp. And, there are these little girls ages:6-8. And, I decided that I would have a mini cheer class ever day! They LOVED this idea!!!!!!! But, the problem is, I can't do tumbling with them because they could injure themselves, so, I want to teach them cheers! If you have links to websites with age appropiate music I would REALLY appreciate it!

P.S.

And, if you gave links to websites that showed how to spot them while doing handstands and backbends and that stuff, it would help ALOT!

THNX!

  1. Ok first off, I run cheer camps and clinics so I know a lot about this topic.  Not to sound rude, but are you a cheerleader?  Even though these girls seem young, I really wouldn't want to help out someone who knows nothing about cheerleading teaching a "mini cheer class." Its really hard to unlearn arm motions if you learned them wrong in the first place when you were young. Please make sure you are qualified to do this before you start teaching.

    Here are some ideas:

I start out my girls with learning basic arm motions and playing arm motion games and then progress by adding those into cheers.  We also work on voices and doing "spirit" at the end of the cheers.  The young ones get bored really easy so take lots of water breaks and throw in a game of "duck duck goose" substituting the duck and the goose with cheer-related words.  On the last day of the clinic leave 15 mins at the end to have a "performance" for the parents to show them what the girls have learned!

  2. Contact your local dance studio. I know someone who teaches: tap, dance, ballet, tumbling, and cheerleading for example.

She teaches all ages including the ages you are referring to.

They could give you advice and you could actually see the procedures done.

Consider this in addition or instead of just relying on the internet

  3. Local dance studio or cheerleader coach or sumthing like that. Well cheers for that age are hard so i have a wesite they have good ones there.

Well anyway strech and try and practice and stuff like that. But you no what start with simple things like a easy cheer maybe even easy stuns look it up on yahoo and look for routines.

    Hope I Helped

    Good Luck
