ok the radar gun will say 69mph then under that 90mph mlb

How do they get 69 for llws and 90 for mlb speed??

  1. The 69 mph is the actual speed from the 46' pitching distance. The 90 mph is the speed a pitch from 60' 6" would have to travel to get to the plate in the same amount of time. Just a way to translate into terms most people can understand.


  2. The 69 mph is the actual speed of the pitch.  The 90 mph is the estimated speed of the pitch if they were throwing that hard from a major league mound which is further away than in little league.

  3. The pitching mound for little league is smaller for the MLB so the MLB throw harder to get it over the plate and to strikeout people.
