Little problem with driving..?

I took a driver's ed class in febuary, and did very well. I was comfortable and got to go on the highway within 5 days because I was doing so well. Today I finally got my first car, and its VERY different than the car I drove, along with the fact I haven't drove in months. I drove for the first time with my mom around the neighborhood and I was very nervous and uncomfortable, along with my mom screaming at me for every little thing. Its making me nervous that i'll never get used to my car and will fail my driver's test. How long did it take you to get used to driving and be ready to take your test?

  1. yeah, my parents would like yell and freak out.

its just a parent thing to do.

how i got comfortable driving is driving with my friends.

i drove my ex bf's car like alllllllllll the time,

and so the next time i got in my moms car,

i was a pro. and she didnt have to yell anymore!

so try to practice with friends!

idk how strict the law is in your state,

but people only got tickets when they got caught

driving with no license. no big deal.

so try to drive with a sibling, friend, whoever.

    its waaaay less pressure.

and try to talk to your mom before you drive,

about not screaming while shes driving with you.

she should understand youre just learning!

tell her it makes you more nervous.

sorry for talking so much :)

    hope this helps :)

  2. Yea thats what happened to me. I was learning how to drive, took a break and started driving in a different car. You just gotta get used to the car. I say do some more practices for about one week and you should be good if its automatic. If its manual then i say about 2 weeks. N just tell you mom that the screaming doesnt help.My dad use to do the same and i told him n he minimized it and i was driving with less nervousness. hopes this helps. oh n good luck on ur future tests.

  3. if u can, have yourmom, or someone in the legal age ride with you-- but nto say anything.  It's not illegal, but it helps.  my mom brings a friend along, and talks to her while i drive.

my mum makes me drive at least every three days-- so i'd work on that if you can- i haven't taken my test yet... so icna't help there... but you will get used to your car.  it just takes time :)

    good luck on ur test!

  4. Your mom will freak out, because you are her daughter. You need to drive around the block a few times by yourself(although illegal) it will help you gain confidence. Having your mother scream in your ear for no reason doesnt help. She is probably more nervous than you are when she is in the car with you.

Tell her to NOT SAY ANYTHING and let you drive. If she agrees, not only will she gain confidence in you, but you will in yourself
