Little question about flying domestically...?

Spoke with the outsourced support from priceline but these guys aren't very reliable and I just wanted to double check. I bought tickets for a Canadian friend who is coming to visit me. He will be driving to the US and flying from a US airport to a US airport. Ticket is in his name and he has a valid Drivers License and an expired passport but they are both Canadian. The rules from what I see just state that a 'valid government issued ID' is required to fly, doesn't specifically say that the country of that ID needs to be a US one. Do you think it will be a problem?

  1. How is your friend going to cross from Canada to the USA with an expired passport? My experiences as an American taking inter country flights in foreign country, I was always asked for, and needed my passport to board the plane.  I have done this in many different countries, and have always had to show my passport. Maybe we have a different policy here in the USA, but I know the many places in the world I have been, you had to show a passport.Even money exchange in most countries require a valid passport before they wil make the transaction.

  2. Ok he will need proof of citizenship (birth certificate) and government issued photo id (driver's licence) to drive across the border.  His driver's licence will be all he needs to get his ticket and board the plane.  Don't even worry about the passport.  Expired passport means nothing to anyone anyways.

  3. The drivers license should be sufficient, as long as it is a Photo ID.  I'd be more concerned with the expired passport causing an issue at the border crossing.
