Sony’s PlayStation 3 exclusive LBP series set to go karting as United Games take over the helm of Sackboy’s latest outing. Media Molecule are aiding in development.
The LittleBigPlanet series has been a huge hit among not just PlayStation 3 gamers but the gaming community in general. Its realistic physics engine paired with the adorable (yes, we used adorable) characters, customization, deep creation tools and humour
have captivated gamers of all ages over the years.
It has become on the PlayStation 3’s core exclusives and now, after two games, it seems that Sackboy and his friends are heading over for karting action.
A screenshot of the game hit the internet earlier on in the year, though Sony neither confirmed nor denied the legitimacy of the leaked image.
All that has become irrelevant now as the game has been confirmed by Sony in official capacity.
James Grieve, the game’s producer, explained how the series’ original developers had helped shape United Front Games’ latest game.
He said, “It has been a joy to collaborate with all of the folks at MM (Media Molecule). Since the project’s inception, they have been great partners in getting to where we are today. Looking ahead, we can’t wait for all of the LBP fans out there to get
their hands on LittleBigPlanet Karting.”
He continued by pointing out that LBP Karting planned to ensure that the Play.Create.Share ethos of the series would be a core element of the latest game.
He said, “Our goal with LBP Karting has been fairly simple – provide a fast-paced experience that captures the best of classic karting gameplay, married with the unbridled creativity of LBP. This new adventure will be accessible to players of all ages and
have all of the variety necessary to satisfy both the hardcore and more casual players.”
United Front Games is the same studio that brought the PlayStation 3 the ModNation Racers game, so they have the experience that could prove vital in delivering the goods when it comes to fans expectations.
Also the news that Media Molecule has also been involved in the project means that one can expect LBP Karting to remain true to the LittleBigPlanet series as well.
