Sony is on the lookout for beta testers for their LBP game on the PlayStation Vita while Valve announce that the sales figures for their sequel to Portal, Portal 2, has surpassed the 4-million mark.
Starting things off in the world of sales and numbers and according to Valve, their second offering in the Portal games has reached another milestone as the sales for the game have crossed the 4-million units sold mark.
For those who are not all that familiar with the denominations and figures, this ‘4,000,000’ is how many copies of the game have been sold to date. Now if one was to calculate how much money that is in terms of revenue earned, one could take the an assumed
average price, of say $40, and multiply that with the total units sold.
The answer is that Valve made an estimated $160,000,000 from the game’s sales to date, which is more than the GDP of many developing nations.
The announcement was made alongside the release of the Map Editor for the game, as Valve has, in essence, made the game self-sufficient in terms of generating content. Commenting on the Puzzle Maker itself, Valve said, “The Puzzle Maker lets people try their
hand at creating puzzles while also letting them discover, share, and easily play what they and other Portal 2 players are coming up with.”
David Sawyer, also went on to state, “So the editor needed to let anyone pick it up and not just use it, but enjoy the process of using it. We think people will have fun with the Puzzle Maker even if they never share their work with anyone else.”
As for the PlayStation Vita and the beta testing for the upcoming LittleBigPlanet entry on the second generation portable gaming console from Sony, it seems that all gamers need to do is fill out a form on the Sony Computer Entertainment America website,
and one should preferably own a Vita as well.
The word ‘preferable’ in this case means ‘must’ as it would be ridiculous trying to beta test the game on anything else.
