The Chinese star Liu Chang has beaten the Casper, David Gray, by a frame score of 10-3 in the qualifiers round 1 of the World Snooker Championship 2011 being held at the World Snooker Academy.
The 20-year-old, Chuang, totally outplayed the experienced English professional and the overall score line between the players was 81-30, 75-29, 75-23, 53-22, 84-43, 23-88, 73-54, 71-7, 0-81, 75-4, 37-68, 86-38, and 61-49.
Chuang took a flying start in the very first frame which he dominated with a break of 80. In the following frame, he again made a break of 67 before giving a chance to his opponent but Gray was not able to pull the frame.
Chuang, who was leading by 2-0, produced another classy break of 74 in the third frame. He also took the scrappy fourth and pocketed the fifth as well with a dominant break of 68.
It was all a one man show going on as Liu Chuang took all five frames before the interval.
Chuang was again the first one to be among the balls in the sixth frame but he gave a chance after a break of 23. Gray also broke at a break of 23 but this time he gave a deadly safety to Chuang which brought him another chance and finally he was able to
have a much needed frame with a break of 65.
Gray, who was now trailing Chuang by 5-1, again got a good chance in the seventh but he was able to roll in only 54 points and Chuang who already was having a 45 points lead added 28 more to have his sixth. Similarly, Chuang also dominated the eighth frame
showing his flawless safety skills and Gray was only able to pot 7 points.
Chuang was leading by a frame score of 7-1 when out of the blue Gray, who had not performed as of yet, compiled a carving break of 81 giving the Chinese no chance. However, Chuang had no reeling effects as he again took the next one with a couple of quick
fires, 45 and 29.
The scores were 10-2 when Gray once again brought some life in the match by winning his third but it was of no use as the man on fire Chuang took the last two cagey frames as well enjoying breaks of 49 and 26 respectively to seal a very comfortable win against
Gray by 10-3.
It was all a one sided business from Chuang’s end and David Gray, who came up after beating the likes of David Singh and Ali Bassiri previously, has been sent back home.
Liu Chuang, who has made it to the round 2, will now face the Whirlwind of London Town, Jimmy White. The match ahead is going to draw quite a large amount of crowd as the people’s champion, Jimmy White, is going to showcase his skills. Let’s see how the
match turns out to be.
