Liv Jensen occupies Women’s 50m freestyle gold – US Open Swimming Championships
Liv Jensen of California Aquatics occupied gold medal of the Women’s 50m freestyle on day five of the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Saturday, August 11.
The 22-year-old Jensen spoiled the party of her challengers in the single lap freestyle discipline, as she showed no mercy and rushed her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With her astonishing efforts, she faced no trouble in sustaining her fastest qualification spot of the event as she proved her mettle for gold medal by producing a time of 25.19 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Megan Romano of Athens Bulldog Swim Club, who remained only 0.18 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for silver medal by submitting a time of 25.37 seconds.
Romano was trailed by Olivia Halicek of Australia, who suffered a loss of 0.11 seconds from her preceding swimmer and secured third best spot on the medal rostrum by reporting a time of 25.48 seconds.
Subsequently, Halicek was chased by Sandrine Mainville of Canada, who remained just 0.03 seconds away from the bronze medallist and settled on the finishing end as fourth best swimmer with the timing of 25.51 seconds.
Mainville was traced by Shayna Jack of Australia, who remained just 0.02 seconds slower from improving her position and secured fifth best place in the event by clocking a time of 25.53 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was secured by Erika Erndl of T2 Aquatics-FL, who failed to secure any medal and completed her race in a time of 25.69 seconds.
Erndl was followed by Lara Jackson of Unattached-AZ, who remained 0.22 seconds slower and concluded her race in a time of 25.91 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was secured by Kasey Carlson of Walnut Creek Aquatics, who stayed 0.07 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 25.98 seconds.
In addition, the crowd applauded for notable efforts of Jensen in the 50m discipline while she expressed her aim of achieving the same at superior levels of swimming.
