Live Updates: Alfred Dunhill Championship - Round 2
The Alfred Dunhill Championship has moved into its second round at the Leopard Creeks Golf Club in South Africa. Twelve players have completed the 18-hole session, while an equal number are yet to tee off.
Scott Jamieson, Keith Horne, and Neil Cheetham teed off together, and are currently occupying second spot on the leader board. Horne seemed confused on the par-72 course, as he failed to comprehend the requirements and struggled throughout the round. Meanwhile
Cheetham gave a superb performance which was evident when he attacked two of the three par five’s on back nine, and was successful in earning birdies. The Englishman smashed three more birdies, and two bogeys on the front nine to settle for a score of 68.
On the other hand Jamieson demonstrated accuracy, but took fewer risks than the others. The Scot picked up three birdies on the front and three in the back, avoiding the ninth and the eighteenth hole. Scott missed the fairway on the fourth hole, and dropped
a putt on the fourteenth.
The fourth hole is challenging and requires a lot of skill since it is an uphill shot. Three more players bogeyed the same hole, because of the elevated bunkered green.
David Howell smashed four-under and compiled an identical scorecard to that of Scott. The Englishman teed off from the front and birdied the first two holes to draft a score of two-under-par. With a gap of three greens, the player ironed the second shot
right onto the green, and earned one more birdie. Howell continued his solid iron-play on the back nine and birdied the first hole threatening Anthony Michael, who led the field in the first round. However, his tee shot on the fifteenth got caught in the bunker,
which was strategically located on the landing area, and the player had to be content with a bogey.
Moreover, he failed to hit the green at the sixteenth hole, and fell further behind. However, the blow did not affect his morale and the Englishman drove his tee shot on the 18th all the way onto the fairway. An iron on the fairway, and a wedge on the green
earned Howell a birdie, which helped him take a share in 13th spot.
