Live leaderboard of BMW PGA Championship Round 1 - Part 4
The first round of the €4,500,000-BMW PGA Championship, which was suspended due to bad light, resumed on Friday at the par-71 Wentworth Golf Course in Surrey, England. Here is a quick look at the leaderboard.
Jose Manuel Lara has completed the first round with one birdie and an eagle. After this round, the Spaniard has a score of 68.
Danish player, Anders Hansen has completed ten holes and has eight remaining. He reeled four birdies and two bogeys in today’s round.
Joburg Open winner, Charl Schwartzel is standing in the lowest most section of the leaderboard after carding four consecutive bogeys starting from the sixth hole. In addition to that, he had three double-bogeys and only two birdies
that left him with a score of 79. The way things are going, it seems the player will miss the cut into the weekend.
Ironically, the South African stepped into the tournament with a bid to win the title. But with poor iron-play and issues coming in driving accuracy, the veteran won’t be able to put up a fight against the soft greens and narrow
fairways.
Volvo World Match Play Champion, Ian Poulter has completed 16 holes and he has one bogey and four birdies in the first round. The flamboyant Englishman could not provoke the magic that he had a week ago. It seems he is facing problems
with the putter that has got accustomed to the fast greens of United States.
Unfortunately, this is not what Poulter was expecting after just winning a tournament. Before coming to the championship, he said that his game supported his form; hence, he was confident that he would lift another trophy, but
with the onset of the first round, this statement is turning out to be futile.
World number one, Lee Westwood has completed the round with a 72 after a single double-bogey and two bogeys. The veteran, who also stepped into the event with a bid of winning the title, seems to be in jeopardy because of his poor
putting.
