I want to be fluent i Spanish by living with a Hispanic family. I know there are universities that offer exchange programs, but I do not want to go through a university. Is there anyway I could live in Mexico and just pay a Mexican family board to learn Spanish?

  1. no because you will need a vaccum to clean up the dust from the floors in your mud house

  2. You can contact families in Mexico that already host.

    Here are two links:

    www.hospitalityclub.org

    www.servas.org

There is another called Pasporta Servo, but you have to speak Esperanto to qualify for that one... =)

    Buena suerte!

  3. Yes, but you want to be very careful about doing that.

If you do it through a school, the school has checked out any potential families to make sure you'll be alright.

  4. you can try organizations that are not related to the nuiversity, like AFS or rotaries. you can pay to live with me i live in guadalajara :)

  5. Yes, there're many programs through out Latin America, especially Central. Also you can try Spain. Just make a google search.

  6. There are many total immersion schools where homestay is main feature...Guatemala is known for them and less expensive...I am sure mexico has them just not sure where...Costa Rica also has several.
