Question:

Livejournal.com assistance needed?

Whenever I browse around livejournal, there are so many users who are able to do this sort of thing within their journal entry:

(here) and then when you click on that "here" thing (it's hyperlinked), it links to a longer amount of text!

so it doesn't make your original entry overly long, or it can link to something that maybe not all viewers would want to read about.

does anyone understand what i'm saying? please help! sorry if i'm not clear.

  1. Most likely they're using a special tag to hide the content from view.

    From what I recall, it's <lj-cut> or something along the lines of that. You can read more in the Help section of LiveJournal.

  2. Yes, like the other person said, they're typing either

    <lj-cut>

    (That shows up as "(Read more...)", without the quotes, if memory serves,

    or they're typing

    <lj-cut text="here">

    (That shows up as "here", without the quotes)

  3. Probably a cut.  The syntax is:

    <lj-cut text="whatever you want users to see in the link">

    Type stuff here

    </lj-cut>
