Liverpool 2 - Bolton 1
Liverpool came from behind to beat Bolton Wanderers in a tight match at Anfield.
The result came as welcome relief for the Liverpool’s Manager Roy Hidgson with 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers after a hard-fought match between the teams.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 leveled the scores. Finally, just minutes
before the whistle, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 signed the winning seal for Liverpool.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Miereles, the Portuguese, had an injury.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 had their best chance to goal in the first half when Taylor had hacked away Maxi Rodriguez’s cross-shot from Torres’ lopped pass to the far post but they could not muster the lead.
Again their attack could make it 1-0 on the score sheet in the first half but couldn’t when Rodriguez failed to keep his header down and headed onto the top of the crossbar at Dirk’s Kuyt’s deep cross.
Finally, Torres made his impression on the play when he scored around the penalty area, just four minute after the second half from Gerrard’s first-time pass to David Ngog’s kick-down.
Cole made the fortunate final minute goal by the deep cross from Gerrard. This was his first league goal for Liverpool after he was added to the squad earlier in summer 2010.
Liverpool started their new year with good spirit and the victory after back to back defeats at Barclay’s Premier League gave them a boost.
"I thought the way we played today was really top-class. It showed the character of the players and their determination to put things right and give us a better 2011 than 2010. Anything other than a victory would have been unfair
but I could have lived with 1-1 on the basis of our performance."
- Roy Hodgson
"It was very cruel to lose to a goal as late as we did. We worked really hard but we can play a bit better than we did. We came here to win and it shows how far we have come that we can go to the elite clubs and put in a big performance
so we are very disappointed."
- Owen Coyle
