Liverpool's Pepe Reina admits 2010-11 Premier League season hasn't been his best
Liverpool goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 has admitted that his form has been poor throughout the ongoing 2010-11 season of the Barclays Premier League. The Spaniard’s comments come just days before Liverpool’s crucial Premier League encounter against fierce rivals
Manchester United.
Reina had already stated that he was far from satisfied with his performances this season, and last weekend’s dismal showing against West Ham United has done little to change his opinion. The Spaniard made a number of baffling errors in that match, helping
the Hammers record a convincing 3-1 win over the Reds.
The Liverpool shot-stopper enjoyed a brief spell of good form earlier in the season, keeping six clean sheets in seven games at one point. However, he admits that his display against West Ham has left him short on confidence.
Reina said, “Keeping those clean sheets was about not making mistakes. I made a couple of them [last] Sunday and I felt really disappointed with my performance. I won't hide behind my team-mates. I was poor. I have to recognise this and keep learning from
those mistakes."
The Spaniard cannot afford to be off his game when Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield on 6th March. With the form http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 are in, Reina is sure to be called into action during the clash. He knows that the contest
will be far from easy, but he remains optimistic about his side’s chances of getting the win over their arch-rivals.
Reina believes that new signing Andy Carroll might just have a big part to play in the match. Reina said, “I hope it turns out like we all think it will. Andy is a great player, a top striker and he will score lots of goals for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. He has that physical
condition. He is massive as a unit and a tough bloke to deal with. I know from experience how difficult it is to face these kinds of opponents."
Liverpool are currently in sixth position in the Barclays Premier League standings with 39 points.
