Liverpool FC appoint Roy Hodgson as manager
Roy Hodgson is the new manager of Liverpool Football Club.
The 62-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Anfield, and will be unveiled to the media at a press conference at Melwood – Liverpool’s training ground – later today.
Hodgson is the 18th manager in the club’s history, and replaces the Spaniard Rafael Benitez, who left Anfield after six years in charge at the beginning of June.
The experienced former Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers and Switzerland national team boss guided Fulham to the Europa League final last season, and is relishing the challenge that he now faces on Merseyside.
“This is the biggest job in club football,” he told Liverpool’s official website, “and I'm honoured to be taking on the role of manager of Britain's most successful football club. I look forward to meeting the players and the supporters and getting down to work at Melwood.”
