Liverpool FC has brushed off rumours stating that Steven Gerrard will miss some part of the next season.
Steven Gerrard underwent a shoulder surgery last month and missed the last two games of the season. He also missed the two international fixtures against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 as he is still recovering from the surgery.
The Merseyside club clarified that the skipper is on track to return before the start of the 2013-14 season and denied any reports that the player has suffered a setback in the process of rehabilitation.
The club claimed that these reports are not true and Gerrard is recovering well from the injury.
“Liverpool today quashed speculation regarding captain Steven Gerrard's recovery from a recent shoulder operation. The Reds skipper underwent surgery in May to correct a recurrent injury and was forced to miss the club's final two matches of the 2012-13
season,” the club’s official website stated.
Liverpool claimed that the story was published by a newspaper which claimed that the captain will not be fit by the start of the campaign and that he will miss some part of the season due to this setback.
The club added that Liverpool’s medical staff is extremely confident that the midfielder will be fit ahead of schedule and will be available for pre-season training.
“A newspaper report published on Wednesday suggested the 33-year-old has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation - but the club can report that Gerrard's recovery remains fully on track. As stated originally, the club's medical team are confident that the
midfielder is on schedule for his comeback and expect Gerrard to be fit and ready for pre-season training,” he concluded.
Liverpool FC finished the season in seventh place behind Manchester United, Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 FC. The club will not be playing in Europe next season as they failed to qualify for any competition.
