Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 suggest that Croatian international Dejan Lovren is attracting interest from English Premier League side Liverpool.
The 21-year-old defender is currently on the books of Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais and could become the second Lyon player to leave Stade Gerland following the departure of France international Jeremy Toulalan to La Liga side Malaga.
The left-back has been under the tabs of Liverpool for a long time. Rumours suggest that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish sent scouts to France to take a look at the highly-rated defender. Last season, Liverpool deployed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 and Glenn Johnson at
left-back after last summer’s signing from Fulham http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Konchesky failed to settle down at the club.
Reports now indicate that Dalglish has consulted Liverpool http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director Damien Comolli regarding a possible transfer of Dejan Lovren to Anfield.
Lovren joined Les Gones from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2010 on a four-and-a-half-year contract. Though he made just eight appearances in the second half of the 2009/2010 Ligue 1 season, the youngster played 26 league games for Lyon in the now-concluded 2010/2011
season. Many football critics in France believe that although Lovren has a great future, he is still young and has to stay at Lyon for a few more seasons before making a move to a bigger club.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that former Olympique Lyonnais star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 but has not ruled out a possibility of returning to the Rhone
giants one day. While talking to the media, the 36-year-old said, “I spent eight glorious seasons at Lyon where I won so many titles. I’m sure that one day I will return to Lyon. I don’t know when because I am still a player right now.”
Juninho played 248 league games for Les Gones and scored 75 goals. Since the Brazilian’s departure in 2009, the club has not won the league. A return to Lyon might change things once again for Lyon who won seven consecutive Ligue 1 titles during Juninho’s
spell at the Rhone club.
