Liverpool FC’s summer transfers (Part 2)
Liverpool already took care of the centre of the midfield with the signings of Charlie Adam from Blackpool and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603.
Yet, it seemed that Red’s manager Kenny Dalglish and Sporting Director, Damien Comolli were far from finished as they brought in Stuart Downing.

Linked with a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 for quite some time, the move finally materialised on the 15th of July when he was revealed to the public as a Liverpool player.
Costing the Reds an approximated 20-million, there were a few eyebrows raised at the price, seeing how many viewed fellow Aston Villa winger Ashley Young to be a much better option and how Manchester United managed to get him for just 16-million.
However, the fact that Downing had a few years remaining on his contract and Young being on the last of his contract were cited as the reasons for the difference.
After a shaky and rather unimpressive start during pre-season, the former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa player, began showing what he was capable of as he operated with devastating effect both on the wing and just behind the striker.
Unlucky not to open his account for the Reds against Bolton Wanderers last weekend the player has been one of the side’s best performers so far.

However, whether it is just a flash in the pan or a sign of things to come is still up for speculation at this point, seeing how the player is known for being slightly inconsistent, yet one thing is for sure, Downing is lighting up the Red’s wings so far.
One of the major problems for Liverpool last season was the left back slot, which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050 both filled but neither managed to hold down or settle into rather well.
Liverpool was right on the money when they signed Jose Enrique from Newcastle United.
A major coup for Dalglish, the Spanish left back was one of Newcastle United’s star players from the previous season. The attack minded left back seemed to match Glen Johnson’s style of forward thinking play, though it must be noted, that Enrique has fewer
questions raised over the defensive side of his game as opposed to his English counterpart.

Falling under the same category as some of the other feisty characters of the Premier League, e.g. Joey Barton, Craig Bellamy made a surprise deadline day move back to one of his former clubs.

While his time at Liverpool may not have been as good as he would have liked, under the management of Rafael Benitez, it seems that the lure of a Scottish manager of the calibre of Kenny Dalglish was something the Welshman could not turn away from.
Add in the fact that Bellamy was not on the best of terns with the management staff at his former employers at the cash rich club we all know as Manchester City, and it seems the move is good for all parties concerned.
All in all Bellamy provides a different, fiery and pacey option to the tall dominating presence of Andy Carroll and the nippy creativity of Luis Suarez.
