Question:

Liverpool Fans - What do you think of the £19million signing of Robbie Keane?!

Personally i think he can form a formidable partnership with Torres. Though i may have been saying it every season for a while I firmly believe this season they have a genuine chance of lifting the title. Though I still think they could do with another signing. Perhaps a right winger or a right back?

  1. I actually don't think he cost us £19 mil, contrary to what the papers say. I know some journalists have specualated that he was actually nearer £14 million. Why would we just stump up the cash when the Barry saga rolls on?

Anyway, I think he's an ok signing, but I'm not sure he'll fit Torres too great. I'd rather have Arsharvin as he's less of a finisher than keane.

Better yet I'd have wanted Berbatov, but I realise that the Americans don't actually want us to win anything so we were stuck for cash there. Another 3rd place finish I fear giving Rafa one more season to go for broke.

  2. Gah.. I hate football..

The guys kick a ball round a field, shout at the referees, cry, get carried off, then get paid millions of quid for it and go live in L.A or sumthin!!!

    Sumert wrong there!?!

  3. great great great !!. torres and keane can lead us to a 19th premiership title glory. next will be GARETH BARRY. I also like DAVID NGOG very much. he played great vs RANGERs and was MOTM. !!

  4. you are all going on how u r going to lift your 19 th prem title after buying robbie kean .the fact of the matter is you have never won the premeirship. man u all the way u might get 3rd if your lucky .

  5. Fantastic signing who already looks like forming a lethal partnership with our very own golden boy, el nino. I think the price is about right to be honest. So what if he's 28? If he helps to bring us the title within his next 5 years (until he's starting to get worse at 33) I couldn't care less. No point looking that far to the future when we need success now! We've got N'Gog, Torres and Nemeth for the future, Keano's for the present.

  6. Too much money for a 28 year old.I think N'gog will turn out to be a better signing.

  7. Great signing.

Ok it might seem like alot of money but put it into perspective. In the year 2007 (not season, year) he scored 31 goals and made 13 assists in 40 starts. That is world class!!! Also, if Andy johnson is worth £13mil then Keane is worth more as he is a better player!

To round off, he is a great player and we now have a potentially lethal strike force, bettered only by Rooney-Tevez (but they wont score as many goals) And if you want to sign one of a top clubs best players, you have to expect to pay the money, especially if that club is in the same league and harbours dreams of beating you in the league! (Emphasis on dreams)

    Thanks

  8. he is a good goal poacher so could bag a few goals and then we will see if he,s worth the price tag

  9. i think keane is over rated but i do hope im proved wrong i expect him to score at least 15 so if he does that and torres gets at least 10-15 assists i'd be happy but right now i don't think keane has that in his game but as said before i hope im proved wrong

  10. u will be sad 2 hear that i am a chelsea fan i think keane is a great signing for the reds. He maybe overpriced by around 4 mill but who cares. Liverpool need more goals and keane will provide it for them if rafa gives him the minutes on the pitch. Another plus is he will not be scoring against chelsea for spurs.

  11. he is gonna be great ...but expensive £80,000 a week and at 29 no sell on value.....

  12. Simple answer.... Excellent signing but we paid too much for him. I'm with you, I think we will be pushing for top spot this season. Hopefully we get Silva !

  13. It is a great signing for Liverpool, but a the price seems to be a bit too steep. I doubt that they'll get the title, they might make 2nd. Tottenham is pushing intot he top four and they might knock out a weak Arsenal, Chelsea or mybe even Chelsea

  14. Do you think they thought they were signing Roy Keane not Robbie? They must be the same age. Spurs must be laughing their c***s off that you were daft enough to pay that much for a player whose best years are behind him.As for the title, the only thing they will be lifting on Merseyside will be swag from the shops.

I hear lots of Pool supporters complain they cant afford to go to Anfield any more and no wonder if they chuck cash around like this.Anybody remember Leeds United embarking on a similar master plan a few years ago? I would love Liverpool to get back to their previous glory years style but sadly they have become a club devoid of characters and are riddled with football merceneries whose main aim in life seems to be about celebrity. Footballs greatest character would turn in his grave at the debacle about to happen up there and you dont need me to tell you who I mean!

  15. Im sorry, I love Liverpool, but d**n it there's TOO MANY SIGNINGS!!! Come on, SIX STRIKERS!?! TWELVE DEFENDERS?! Thats a 48 man squad, almost FOUR different teams! If I was Gillette or Hicks, I would kill Benitez for not producing a single title. Sell before you buy. Let Xavi go, let Voronin go, let alot of these guys go. You dont need 4 right backs. You dont need six strikers unless you're planning on purposely injuring a few of them. h**l, they dont even need Gareth Barry, Mascherano is fine, Xavi is fine, what's so special about Barry? I think him and Gerrard would flop.

I think Robbie Keane was a good signing, I think he and Torres will compliment each other. If they can get it together, Liverpool may just do something this year to make all this spending worth something

  16. I think he will be good up front with Torres

  17. Fantastic signing, a great partner for Torres!

Yep, hope we get Silva or another similar winger, but even without we have a formidable squad!

    19th Title, here we come........

    :)

  18. same as i think for a 28year old it is to much money.

as for the title not a year goes by were i think  we are gonna lift the trophy...

  19. he is a good player he plays the support striker role and honestly i expect his tally to go up as he now can be supplied by players such as Torres and Gerrard he also would want to play well for his dream club and thus he no doubt will play well.

all in all he is a good signing. no cheap but good i expect good things but i only hope they win some cups and the money was not in vein.
