Liverpool Linked with shock recall for former player
Liverpool are currently being rumored to be in the works to try and lure back a former Anfield hero. The player that the team is looking re-sign is none other than the former France international Djibril Cisse.
The player who has achieved wonders with the reds in the past is reported to be on the verge of calling it quits at his current club, Panathinaikos. The player is reported to have grown frustrated of the limitations that present themselves at the club and
as a result in looking to move elsewhere.
Roy Hodgson on the other hand appears to have been made aware of the players thoughts to potentially be moving away from the team and is looking to try and turn his head back towards Anfield.
On the other hand the team might face a stiff competition from Aston Villa and Gerard Houllier who is also reported to be interested in the player. The manger has managed to recall veteran players like Robert Pires in the past and is looking to repeat the
same with Cisse, if the opportunity is to arise.
However with Liverpool looking to a substantial bid for the twenty nine year old, he just might be on his way back to Liverpool.
This is mainly due to the fact that a return to Anfield would see Cisse return to the team with which he went on to win a Champions League medal. The player played two seasons with the team before suffering some serious injury concerns after having broken
his leg. As a result the team was forced to let go of their mercurial striker and it appears as though he might have some unfinished business at the club.
If Liverpool are to make a move for the player, then according to most experts the deal could set Liverpool back as much as fourteen million Euros. That is an amount that doesn’t seem to be too high for the team to afford, despite being told to cut back
on their expenses by the new owners of the club.
It is now nothing more than a wait till the January transfer window to see if Liverpool do end up pursuing their former local hero.
