Liverpool Report On Transfers and Apparent Perils Facing The Club (Part 2)

The fact currently, is that there is not much money left with Liverpool for transfers, as most of the profits generated by the last manager are going into paying off the clubs debt. What the club needs right now is to strengthen the squad but with the very limited money this is coming in, this is proving to be a very complicated task.
Another worrying factor is the replacement of Mascherano with Christian Poulsen as this would significantly decrease the mid field quality and the average age of the players.
Though right now Lucas is proving his potential and doing a good job, all while moving Steven Gerrard to the middle of the field. This would make Poulsen become a substitute and not a regular in the first team. Also taking Steven Gerrard away from Fernando Torres would mean breaking up one of the most fruitful partnerships in modern football.
Joe Cole is currently being utilized properly for the team, still Cole is the type of player who cannot be guaranteed to give a goal in return or give a very impressive pass rate. Cole needs to play behind Torres to see if he can support him properly or not. A judgement should be passed after the season to decide if this works or not.
In spite of being the first eleven of a team that rivalled every other in Europe, the major flaw in the club was the strength of talented players left in the team after multiple players got injured and benched.
This also came out very negatively by the board as they cut player profits to pay back the clubs debt. They used the transfer budgets to pay the expenses of contract negotiations and did not strengthen the squad as they should have. The club also removed transfer finances half way through deals being made, for example the money that was allocated to the manager to buy a quality striker was later on used to back up Fernando Torres.
If Liverpool meets the same unlucky fate as last season with injuries, then one thing is for sure; Roy Hodgson will be in need of a player of equivalent skills and talents to those of Joe Cole.  If the player gets injured it would have a rippling effect on the team as he has a very key role in future games.
Though some gratitude should go to Benitez, for making the option of playing Steven Gerrard to support and play behind Fernando Torres possible, this is a going to be a very important role for Liverpool and is direly needed.
Another possibility would be based on the floating rumours going around about Liverpool getting Mascherano. He could be played in the midfield to support Torres but this will definitely degrade the mid field talents and the quality of play will be reduced.
Another choice that Roy Hodgson has is to play Alberto Aquilani, as towards the end of last season he showed peeps of why Benitez waited so much for him and paid so much to add him to the squad.
Also Yossi Benayoun has left Chelsea and this Italian is one of the few players who are capable of passing through the Premier League level defence. He has the vision and the technical abilities to slip through all the stubborn defence tactics that opponent teams can throw his way.
Hodgson commented on Aquilani by saying that he hopes that he returns to the club next year. Also that he proves himself as Hodgson has a lot of expectations from him. But the point is that, if the Italian player leaves on loan or permanently leaves the club, is not for certain for now.
The club will be losing another talented player even if Mascherano comes as a new addition to the club or not, the loss of Aquilani will take its toll on the future of the club.
Right now Mascheran needs to get up and keep going with the English style of play as it really would be a waste to send him back to Italy after he has been training for English play for almost a year now.
Also Liverpool is argued to have one of the best medical teams in the world, after last season’s fiasco Benitez did put in place a highly regarded medical team so nothing like last season would happen again.
Time is very critical for Liverpool right now with the pantomimes going on in the Board rooms of the club and the club losing such talented players.
Roy Hodgson needs to be backed and supported all the way if the Reds want to make a come back and for the rest of the part the fans just need to pray that Hodgson Is the right man for the job.
