Liverpool aim to finish their Premier League season on a high
Liverpool grabbed their first win under interim manager Kenny Dalglish after they defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at Molineux. This victory also secured Liverpool’s first Premier League win after 3 games.
A comprehensive win against Wolves has restored faith at Anfield that Liverpool can still end the current season on a high. Dalglish has been optimistic about the club’s future ever since his return to the Merseyside club. After the initial defeats he suffered
after he was appointed as the manager, he had stated that Liverpool are losing despite putting in some good performances. He had also acknowledged that their premier striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 is a key player for Liverpool and he needs to regain form to put the
club’s season on track.
The Spaniard has restored his manager’s faith in him and was a central figure in the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952. He scored two goals and worked tirelessly throughout the game. Dalglish also praised his striker’s performance after the match.
He said, “It is the best since I've come in, the way he worked. It was not just his goals it was the work-rate he put in. He really helped us by closing the goalkeeper down. The keeper kicks it the full length of the pitch and that is a great asset for him
and we asked him to nullify that and he did. He showed he wanted to do something and he did it.”
Torres also found the back of the net in the defeat against Blackpool and Dalglish says that despite the loss it was evident that Torres had found his stride.
Dalglish is now keen to find a partner for Torres to support him upfront. The Reds have shown their interest in Ajax striker Luis Suarez. The Liverpool manager refused to point out any specific player the club is looking to bring to Anfield but admitted
that the, “owners are very supportive and we can bring players.”
Suarez has also confirmed his interest in playing for an English club. He commented that he once thought that he was not suited for the Premier League but now believes that his high energy level will match well with the pace of the game in England.
On the Premier League Suarez said, “Alongside the Spanish league it is the best in the world. In England you have a lot of clubs with aspirations to become champions and they are also very strong in the Champions League at the European level. I used to think
that English football was not my style. But I saw Tevez play at Boca and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.”
Ajax coach Frank de Boer seems to have acknowledged that his striker is set to move on. However, he has warned clubs like Liverpool that they need to speed up the process if they want to secure a deal for the Uruguayan striker. Boer said, “We won't let Luis
go on January 31 at 23:55."
Liverpool currently lies 11th on the League table with 29 points. Even though they have finally got a convincing win under Dalglish, it is too early to predict the clubs fate in the ongoing season. Liverpool will now face Fulham at Anfield on
26 January. A win for the away side will take them above http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on the League standings.
