Liverpool’s director of football, Damien Comolli has left the club after a mutual arrangement, citing family reasons for his decision.
However, according to some sources, in-effective signings and the Reds slump in the Premier League this season, is the reason behind the Frenchman’s ouster.
The 39 year old was handed the post of Director of Football Strategy by the club in November 2010. Two months later, he signed Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll for an estimated cost of about 55 million pounds in the January transfer window.
In March, 2011 he became the club’s Director of Football, and was responsible in landing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 and Steward Downing at Anfield in the summer.
However, the Frenchman came under increasing pressure as Carroll, Henderson and Downing failed to make a significant impact at Liverpool.
Carroll, who was signed for a club record fee of 35 million pounds, has only managed to score 10 goals for the Reds in 49 appearances. On the other hand, the midfielders Henderson and Downing have also failed to leave a mark on the team, managing only 3
goals for the Reds between them.
Nevertheless, Comolli mentioned on the club’s official website that he was leaving his post, solely for family reasons.
"I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 for family reasons. I wish the Club all the best for the future." He said.
The Fenway Sports Group, which is the parent company of Liverpool, also confirmed that Comolli has parted ways with the club after reaching a mutual agreement.
"We are grateful for all of Damien's efforts on behalf of Liverpool and wish him all the best for the future," said the principal owner of the group, John Henry.
