Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has expressed his delight on the 3-0 win against Newcastle United at Anfield.
Dalglish praised his players for their determination and confidence on the pitch and remained optimistic for the UEFA Europa League qualification.
The Reds downed the Magpies 3-0 in a Premier League fixture at home to claim the fifth spot from Tottenham Hotspur and strengthen hopes for European qualification.
Maxi Rodriguez continued his goal scoring form and scored the first to justify his place in the starting line-up. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 and Luis Suarez scored a goal each to secure three points for the hosts.
Dalglish claimed that it was a tough game for both the sides with Liverpool looking for a fifth place finish at the end of the ongoing 2010-11 season and Alan Pardew’s team running for a top half finish on the Premier League table. He stated that the opposition
came back strongly after conceding the first goal and looked a major threat to score but claimed that his side was much better after the interval and deserved a win.
“It was a difficult day for both sets of players. It was really hot for them and after we took the lead they put us under a bit of pressure through set plays and crosses but in the second half we loosened up a little bit, got two goals and I think we deserved
to win,” the Scot was quoted as saying in an interview.
The manager claimed that the performance was good but the side has played better in the past few weeks. He was all praise for the determination and fight the players have shown after a dismal first half of the season.
“Some of the passing and movement has been better than what it was today but their determination and effort was the same has it has always been,” the former Blackburn manager concluded.
Liverpool are currently in fifth place with 55 points and are level on points with Tottenham Hotspur, with the latter having a game in hand. The Reds next play Fulham at Craven Cottage next week.
