Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish heaps praise on Pepe Reina
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has tipped his hat to goalkeeper Pepe Reina, claiming that the Reds shot-stopper is one of the best keepers in the world today. The Scot’s comments come just before Liverpool’s crucial Europa League last-16 second leg encounter
against Sporting Braga, a match in which Reina will be making his 300th appearance for Liverpool.
Pepe Reina joined the Reds back in the summer of 2005, quickly establishing himself as the first choice goalkeeper at the club. Since then, Reina has transformed himself into one of the most sought-after keepers in the world today. The match against Braga
will be the Spaniard’s 300th appearance for the Reds.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has nothing but praise for his goalkeeper, deeming him to be the greatest shot-stopper in the world. The Reds boss believes that Reina deserves a position as the Spanish national side’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Dalglish said, “In my opinion http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 is one of, if not the, best keeper in the world. I know how he doesn't get in his national side, but if it's my opinion you're asking for that would be my shout. He has been fantastic for this football club and is
a great asset to us.”
He added, "That is reflected in that if Stevie (Gerrard) or Carra (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728) are not playing, he is our captain."
Dalglish has set his sights on the Europa League crown this season, but the Scot is aware that the title won’t simply be handed to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. The Reds still have a long way to go, needing to get past Sporting Braga to reach the quarter-final stages of the
competition.
Their task is made all the more difficult due to the fact that Braga will be carrying a 1-0 advantage from the first leg. However, Dalglish remains optimistic about his side’s chances.
The Scot said, “Anfield is always an advantage for us. Even though we're one down, the fans can help us turn things around, but it's mainly up to us to help ourselves. We need to start much better than in the first leg.”
The two teams will go head-to-head at Anfield in the second leg of their last-16 encounter on 17th March.
