Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish keeps his feet on the ground
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is not getting carried away after the club’s 3-1 victory over arch-rivals Manchester United. The Scot believes that the Reds still have a long way to go before they can re-establish themselves as the biggest club in England
once more.
The win against Manchester United was yet another notch on Dalglish’s belt since taking over the club back in December. When the Scot arrived at the helm, Liverpool were in dire straits. The Reds were languishing in the bottom half of the table, looking
completely devoid of ideas on the pitch. Dalglish endured a rocky start to his second stint as Liverpool manager; however, it seems that he has gotten the hang of it now.
Under the guidance of Dalglish, Liverpool look like a completely different side. The Reds are starting to regain their confidence, producing performances worthy of their pedigree in recent weeks. Their display against Manchester United was perhaps their
most impressive performance this season.
However, manager Kenny Dalglish refuses to get swept up in the wave of adulation, which has been showered upon him. He insists that there is still a long time to go before the club can recapture the magic which made http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 the biggest club in England
in the past.
Speaking after the match, the Scot said, “The closer you get to the top the more difficult it is to close the gap. Moving from 20th to sixth is not as big a problem as moving from two to one so the higher you go the more difficult the step up is. (Manchester)
United are a great benchmark but our season is not finished.”
He added, “We got our reward for the victory in three points in the league but we just want to keep going and get as many as we possibly can.”
With the win, Liverpool increased their points tally for the season to 42; however, they are still a whopping 18 points behind leaders Manchester United. Though they will not win the title themselves, the Reds at least ensured that their arch-rivals don’t
have an easy ride to the Premier League title. The defeat increased the pressure on Manchester United, who have Arsenal breathing down their necks as the countdown to the end of season begins.
