Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish revealed he was not pleased with the Barclay’s Premier League resuming just three days after the first batch of international friendlies.

Dalglish openly criticized the Premier League schedule, which he felt would be affected by the preceding friendlies.
Dalglish said while speaking to reporters:
“I would ask why the season is starting on a Saturday when there are international friendlies the midweek before.
Clubs are doing their best to bring in good players and that usually means they are international players.”
There have previously been issues where players have refused to feature for country so their performance for club is not affected, and vice versa.
To avoid putting undue pressure on the players, Dalglish did not approve of the short break in between the international friendlies and the opening Premier League weekend of the 2011-2012 season.
He continued:
There is a free week after the first weekend so I don't understand why we can't start the season on a Sunday to prevent players having to travel back on a Wednesday night in time for a Saturday start.”
