Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 and possible targets in the summer transfer window
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish revealed he was hopeful that the Reds skipper Steven Gerrard would be back to full fitness in time for next season. Dalglish said the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international had already shown signs of recovery, which gave him hope ahead of the
2011-2012 campaign.
The 31-year-old had a recurring groin injury which kept him out for the better part of last season, making his last appearance for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 he only went on to make 24 appearances in all competitions last season
and scored 8 goals.
Despite taking some time off, Gerrard failed to recover from the groin injury and had to eventually undergo surgery. The operation was successful but it remains to be seen whether or not the Liverpool skipper will be fit to lead his side in the upcoming
season.
Dalglish revealed he was extremely hopeful about having Gerrard back in time for the opening fixture against Sunderland. However, he mentioned he did not want to pressurize the midfielder into returning sooner than he had to.
Dalglish said while speaking to reporters:
“Everything that has been done has been very positive for Steven so we are just hoping for the best for him.
He deserves a bit of luck on the injury front.
We won't put him under any undue pressure. All we'll say is that everything has been fantastic so far.”
Dalglish was also asked about his targets, if any, for the summer transfer window. After bringing in Sunderland youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102, the Reds have gone awfully quite in the transfer market.
While the Scotsman admitted they had identified targets, he said he did not wish to name any of them since it was disrespectful to the other clubs. Like the other English Premier League managers’ he wished to maintain his silence over the issue.
The Liverpool boss said:
“I wouldn't mention anyone as a target for us.
We are obviously trying to bring people in and people are trying to take players from us.
We are not going to speculate and be disrespectful and talk about other people at other clubs.”
