Inspirational skipper wants the Liverpool supporters to raise the roof in their FA Cup tie against Manchester United on Saturday.
Liverpool and Manchester United are set to write another chapter in their age old rivalry as the two sides are set to face each in the FA Cup at Anfield.
The match up never fails to disappoint as a footballing spectacle with goals, cards and controversy on offer in abundance whenever the two teams lock horns and one can expect more of the same come Saturday.
The match is always under the microscope yet that will be even more so this time around especially with the racism row that took place between Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Manchester Untied captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, which resulted in the Uruguayan international being slapped with an eight match ban.
However, the Liverpool captain has stated that he would like the home support to be focused more on matters that take place on the pitch rather than what has transpired off it in recent weeks.
He stated, “We all have a responsibility on Saturday to ensure that this game is remembered for the football.”
Liverpool also had to bear the shame of having a police investigation carried out on the crowd when one of their home supporters racially abused an opposing team’s player which reduced the latter to tears.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Dickov, the affected team’s coach later praised the way Liverpool Football Club handled the situation, yet those were not the headlines that ran in the media.
Gerrard continued, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Manchester United is a massive rivalry and of course there is going to be stuff in the papers and banter between fans, but it would be fantastic if after the weekend its remembered for being a top game and obviously, from out point of view, a Liverpool win.”
Sparks are sure to fly when both sides meet on the pitch yet it seems Liverpool are adamant that there is no backlash from the crowd after the events that transpired when the two sides met in the Premier League earlier on in the season.
All in all, one can expect an electric atmosphere at Anfield and hopefully and equally electrifying match up between the bitterest of rivals.
