Liverpool skipper, Steven Gerrard, has hailed his side’s newest signing, Jordan Henderson, and wants the former Sunderland midfielder to emulate his success at Anfield.
Henderson became Liverpool’s first signing of this summer transfer window as the Reds paid €16.5 million to Sunderland. Henderson’s move to Liverpool gives a clear indication that the Reds legendary manager, Kenny Dalglish, is looking to invest in young
English players. The Liverpool legend had earlier signed the 22-year-old English striker, Andy Carroll, from Newcastle United for a record fee of £35 million in January 2011.
Gerrard, who missed out last few months of the recently concluded season due to a groin injury, admits that the club is moving in the right direction to find perfect replacements to their best players. The 31-year-old also urged Liverpool to sign a player
who can follow in the footsteps of the club’s legendary defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728.
He said, “It's a really positive signing - let's hope he is the next Steven Gerrard. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 and it will need a new Jamie Carragher. That's what good football clubs do - they replace their best players. I saw Jordan at first
hand for two or three days with England and he is a good player with energy."
Moreover, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, who initiated the revival of the Reds since taking charge in January, has also hailed Henderson’s attributes and tips him to become the next big thing at Anfield.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-c2929 is very mature for his age. He is respectful and his principles and everything else on and off the pitch are exemplary. Not only is he a talented footballer, he's a really good person as well.” King Kenny said.
Henderson has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Sunderland in recently concluded 2010/11 campaign. The 20-year-old English midfielder was one of the consistent Sunderland players as he only missed one game in the whole last season.
Henderson is currently on International duty as he will be a part of England’s U21 squad that will play in the European Championship in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s
squad against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 in November, 2010.
