Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard wants Kenny Dalglish to stay at Anfield
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has given Kenny Dalglish his full backing, saying that he wants the Reds legend to remain at Anfield beyond the end of current Barclays Premier League season.
Speaking on the Scot’s appointment as caretaker manager, Gerrard said, “I want to do everything in my power to ensure that he stays here for a long time, beyond the initial six months. I'd love nothing better when the end of the season comes than for us to be on the back of a good run of results that ensures he gets the job full-time. That's my short-term plan, to give everything I've got and all my energy to try to make that happen.”
Dalglish was appointed as Liverpool’s caretaker manager for the remainder of the current campaign following Roy Hodgson’s dismissal two weeks ago. He has gotten off to a shaky start since his return to the Anfield dugout, having failed to lead Liverpool to victory in his first three games in charge. However, many believe that he will soon turn things around at the club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international claimed that Dalglish’s return to the throne would give Liverpool the boost they need to salvage the season.
He said, “I won't lie. When Kenny rang to say he was coming back it was a big lift. I love Kenny as a person and I've certainly enjoyed the first few days we've had working with him. I can see a positive future for Kenny at the club.”
The Reds are floundering in 13th place, just four points away from the relegation zone. However, the 30-year-old midfielder believes that Dalglish will get them back into the top half of the table before the season is through.
Gerrard added, “I think Kenny is the perfect person to get everyone moving in the right direction again. He's the talisman at this club. His nickname, the King, says it all really. He's the perfect manager and also the person to bring it all together.”
Dalglish faces his next big test on the 22nd of January, when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.
