Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard wants his teammates to step up their game – EPL News
Influential Liverpool skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has urged the Reds to start delivering results by giving their best performances on the pitch for the Anfield club.
The Merseyside club have boosted their squad with a huge influx of money in the last two transfer windows. Liverpool have spent over £100 million in the current years, making some high profile signings such as Luis Suarez, Charlie Adam, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 and
Andy Carroll, with aim to bring European football back to Anfield.
The Reds have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions for the past two seasons - a competition which they won four times, most by any English club.
Dalglish’s men started the campaign with a pre-season aim of finishing in the top four of the Barclays Premier League. After a very impressive start to the ongoing 2011/12 campaign, the Reds failed to stretch their impressive run in the league.
Liverpool recently drew both of their home games against Premier League new comers, Swansea City and Norwich City, and are currently placed sixth in the standings.
Gerrard, who is currently nursing his ankle infection, has asked the Reds to step up their game and start delivering the wins. The Reds skipper believes that Liverpool have one of the strongest squads in the Premier League and now it is time for the players
to prove their worth.
The 31-year-old told the reporters, "I think the squad is looking stronger, probably the strongest we've had for a long time. Now it's all about delivering."
Gerrard believes that Liverpool players will need to work hard and added:
"The tools are all there, now we need to work hard, focus on each game and try to build on what we've shown over the last 20 or so games.
"At Liverpool your standards have got to be so high every single week. You have to perform every time. That's what I've had to do every year and that's what the new lads are coming to terms with."
