Kenny Dalglish has confirmed that the Reds are looking to sign Sporting Lisbon youngster Joao Carlos, who is still yet to play for the first team at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
English Premier League giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have fallen from grace in the last couple of seasons and no longer look like the side that could be challenging for honours at the highest level anytime soon.
However with the arrival of club legend Kenny Dalglish to Anfield last year, things have started to turn bright for the Merseysiders. The Scot has revamped the team and sold the misfiring Torres to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
He used the money from the Spaniard’s sale to fund other moves and has signed the likes of Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 to add more depth to his squad.
As http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has battled his injury woes during the course of the campaign, Liverpool have clearly struggled to impose themselves in the centre of the park. Charlie Adam has shown potential, but it remains to be seen whether he can shine at the highest echelon of football.
Jordan Henderson has not been a good investment and clearly needs to mature a lot further, if he is to become a regular at the helm. With options in midfield low, Dalglish has again been scouring the transfer market in search of potential stars.
The 60-year-old has identified a number of players he would like to bring to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but according to reports, Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Carlos seems to be his preferred target.
The Portuguese is yet to play for the senior team but has shown a lot of potential, which Dalglish is keen to exploit. Carlos featured for the Lions’ http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 that took on Liverpool in the NextGen Series and impressed onlookers, as Sporting beat their English counterparts convincingly.
Joao Carlos was the star of the match and the coaches from the Premier League outfit have been dazzled by the youngster’s abilities and have asked Dalglish to acquire his services before any other team snaps him up.
The former Celtic boss confirmed recently that his side were looking to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 but said even if the player did arrive at Liverpool, he would not play for the senior team immediately.
"There might be something about that," Dalglish said to reporters when asked of the rumoured interest.
He also added that due to his age, Carlos would not be drafted for senior team duty if he was signed this winter.
"No, he's only a kid," the Scotsman was quoted as saying.
With Liverpool on his trail, it will be difficult for Sporting Lisbon to retain the services of their precocious talent but the Lisbon side should get a fair bit of profit out of the deal, if a transfer does materialize this winter.
