Liverpool confirm signing of Milan Jovanovic
Serbian international forward Milan Jovanović has signed a three-year deal with Liverpool.
The 29-year-old, who scored Serbia’s winning goal when they beat Germany at the World Cup in South Africa, moves on a free transfer from Belgian side Standard Liège in a deal that had been set up by new boss Roy Hodgson’s predecessor Rafael Benitez.
Jovanović won the Golden Shoe – awarded for the best player in Belgium’s Jupiler League – in 2009, and won the Belgian Footballer of the Year title for the 2007/08 season. He spent four years with Standard, scoring 69 goals in 146 games, and has 10 in 29 internationals for Serbia.
“It is an honour for me to sign for one of the biggest clubs in football,” he said.
“I cannot wait to start working with the manager and I'm looking forward to joining up with my new teammates on our Swiss training camp next week.”
