Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 suggest that English Premier League giants Liverpool FC are considering making an offer for Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne winger Dimitri Payet. The France international has been linked with a move away from the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard for
a long time.
After failing to land http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Marveaux-c34432, Liverpool are desperate to add a winger to their squad. Marveaux was linked to a move to Anfield for a long time from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais but a few days ago, the Frenchman chose to sign for Newcastle United.
Reports now suggest that Liverpool are looking to make a seven million Euros bid for Les Verts star Dimitri Payet. Saint-Etienne are looking for 14 million Euros for the services of the tricky winger but Liverpool are not willing to pay Les Verts’ requested
amount.
Damien Comolli was the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director of Saint-Etienne before he came to Liverpool in November 2010. The Frenchman has worked with Payet and is a great admirer of the 24-year-old winger. However, Comolli is not willing to pay above seven million Euros
for Payet.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is reportedly looking to add two wingers to the squad ahead of the start of the 2011/2012 English Premier League season. Rumours suggest that the Liverpool manager is keeping tabs on Aston Villa winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 and
after missing out on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813 who is on the verge of completing his move to Manchester United, is looking to bring in Payet from Saint-Etienne.
Dimitri Payet is currently under contract at Saint-Etienne until 2013 which means that seven million Euros might not be enough to land the winger. Chairman of Les Verts, Roland Romeyer revealed last month that several English clubs had asked about the availability
of Payet but said that he won’t be selling the club’s prized asset.
In the January transfer window, Liverpool paid 35 million Euros for Andy Carroll which was a steep amount for a player who still had a lot to prove. Liverpool will have to significantly improve their bid in order to start negotiations with Saint-Etienne.
Furthermore, seven million Euros would be too less for a player who has made over 129 league appearances for Saint-Etienne.
