Liverpool defeat West Bromwich Albion 1-0; Fernando Torres scores - Part 2

The 3rd attempt of scoring a goal came in the 15th minute and that was the attempt that showed that the Liverpool striker was keen on having a spectacular comeback in the Englsih Premier League. Also attentiveness and acuity in handling the ball was seen in Torres at last and once hailed as one of the fastest strikers was once again challenging and defeating defenders in sprints.
However it was not just him that caught the eyes of the spectators; as matter of fact it was the whole Liverpool team as they seemed to gel up and progress in becoming a better team with time. Even though the score line showed West Brom a goal down at Anfield, the Scouse did show a better performance with a developing chemistry between their players.
After Torres’ attempt other team member also got hype up and produced marvels of their own. Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel headed the ball to Milan Jovanovic who came charging down the field from centre midfield but his shot was not able to reach the goal as Torres along side made an attempt but the ball eventually got cleared off by Albion player Gabriel Tamas. Tamas was on his usual bright performance and during the match proved to be a tough wall to cross against.
During the whole match, though Liverpool dominated possession but there were couple of brilliant moves made by Albion that nearly had Liverpool players on their knees, quite literally. One of them came at the end of the first half when a cross split the Liverpool defence and only because the ball reached the second striker instead of the first who was covered was Liverpool able to evade the attack.
Marc Antoine Fortune was another man apart from Torres that was under a close match as this was his first game after his return form Celtic. He looked impressive as now and then he tested the Liverpool defence which faltered on very few occasions. He fired a couple of shots at the posts too but the Spanish shot stopper who got the EPL version of Golden Glove last season had still his game face on even though he fumbled a goal in the opener against Arsenal.
Fortune struck a low ball which got past the defence after James Morrison gunned a long range shot but it was again collected by the safe hands of Reina. Reina was brilliant in the whole match and seemed confident when leaping at the ball.
The newly signed player from Porto Raul Meireles, who has been given the number 4 shirt, previously owned by Italian player Alberto Aquilani, currently on loan to Juventus, seemed eager to join in action but Hodgson will have to make his mind now as the Danish defensive midfielder Christian Poulsen preformed marvelously. Both are replacements for the departed Javier Mascherano though, Meireles is more adaptable and can play around the midfield area beautifully.
Another man on the move is the Fulham’s Paul Konchesky as a left back for Liverpool. He too was watching the match from the stands. His arrival details will be announced in a day’s time at Anfield, right now it was Daniel Agger who was at the position and he had accomplished a job well done.
After the half time Liverpool team was up and rolling, as just 4 minutes in to the half and their skipper Steven Gerrard was travelling here and their on the pitch assisting and attempting efforts to score a goal. On one occasion he controlled the ball on his chest before blasting it from 40 yards but the ball was just wide from Carson who had the goal posts covered.
