Liverpool defeat West Bromwich Albion 1-0; Fernando Torres scores - Part 3

After that came a brief period in which West Brom midfielders decided to retaliate and therefore 2 long range shots followed, however Liverpool countered them and Torres on the run tried to score but was unsuccessful therefore he passed it from the wing to Martin Skrtel who kicked it just wide from the upper right corner witch a superb attempt.
It was then, that it was realized that Torres was on to something. Soon after that Albion defender Jonas Olsson nearly gifted a goal to Liverpool as he passed the ball from Tamas to Carson. The ball went just wide from the bottom left corner.
The lone Liverpool goal in the 65th minute when Torres and Dutch Dirk Kuyt made a jaw dropping play; it started when Reina threw an acute long ranged pass from his hands to Torres who controlled it well and ran on the way passing it to Kuyt on the left wing. Kuyt dribbled it down to the edge and Torres, who was intentionally was just a bit late to arrive in front of the box to avoid defenders, slotted the ball past a helpless Carson on a volley.
Just 7 minutes later Torres had another one, when Gerrard made a perfect pass again from the left wing which landed right in front of Torres. This time however Carson was quick to react; as Torres struck the ball, he lunged forward to block it and was successful.
In the 82nd minute there was another moment of brilliance when Gerrard and Kuyt orchestrated a brilliant move but Torres was just a tad late as Gonzalo Jara charged along with Torres towards the ball and held him back with the help of his hands. The foul that could have resulted in a penalty remained unseen by referee Lee Probert.
Although referee Probert did see Morrison pounce at Torres and instantly awarded him with a red card. In the end Liverpool won the match 1-0 and this happened to be Liverpool’s 2000th Premier League triumph.
The starting lineup for Liverpool was Pepe Reina, Martin Skrtel, Jamie CArragher, Daniel Agger, Glen Johnson, Christian Poulsen, Lucas, Milan Jovanovic, Dirk Kuyt, Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. The substitutions made were Maxi Rodrigues for Milan Jovanovic in the 60th minute and Ryan Babel for Fernando Torres in the 90th minute.
The starting line up for West Bromwich Albion was Scott Carson, Jonas Olsson, Gabriel Tamas, Nicky Shorey, Gonzalo Jarra, Graham Dorrans, James Morrison, Youssuf Mulumbu, Chris Brunt, Peter Odemwingie and Marc Antoine Fortune. The substitutions made were Somen Tchoyi for Graham Dorrans in the 76th minute and Chris Wood for Marc Antoine Fortune in the 82nd minute.
Liverpool had 11 attempts to score a goal and 4 of them were on target while West Bromwich Albion had 16 attempts and 3 of them were on target. However the attempts by Liverpool were much more successful.
Both teams committed 8 fouls and 1 offside, though none received a yellow card but of course Morrison was slapped with a red card in the 86th minute. Liverpool got their hands on 7 penalty corners while Albion got 6.
Though Liverpool dominated throughout, possession of the ball was shared; Liverpool getting 51% and Albion 49%. With this both goal keepers, Reina and Carson, made an equal number of saves, 3. Liverpool in the end won a deserved 1-0 victory.
