Liverpool defender, Daniel Agger, has stated that he is eager to play for the first team next season after an injury plagued 2010/11 campaign. He expressed his frustration on being out for most of the second-half of the season and vowed to be back fitter
than ever in the next campaign.
Daniel Agger made only 16 league appearances for Liverpool this season mainly due to a knee injury. The centre-back’s injury woes kept him out of the starting line-up under manager Roy Hodgson but Kenny Dalglish showed confidence in the player’s ability
until March this year when he was declared out for the season after he got injured in a match against West Bromwich Albion.
The Danish international remained confident that there would be no major injury worries next season. He also admitted that it is frustrating to sit out of the match with an injury and watch your team play but remained confident of a good season ahead.
“If I could do something to make sure I wouldn't get injured again, I would do it no matter what it was. Of course, it's always frustrating to be injured, no matter if the team is playing well or poorly. There is nobody who is more frustrated than me, but
I just have to focus and stay positive,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to the club’s official website.
The defender insisted that he will be fit before the start of the next season and surely in time for the pre-season fixtures, which would give him some match practice. He added that he wants to fully recover from injury this time and does not want to rush
back.
“The important thing for me is that I have pre-season to look forward to and I am not in a rush now. That's been the problem the last few times I have been injured - I've been in a rush to get back. I'd come back early but would get a new injury,” he concluded.
Daniel Agger has made 136 appearances for the Reds and scored seven goals in his six seasons at the club.
