Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel backs Kenny Dalglish as long-term manager
Martin Skrtel is the latest player to come out in favour of Kenny Dalglish’s appointment as a long-term manager of Liverpool. The Slovakian has hailed the manager’s tactics and has urged the club to sign the Scot on a permanent deal.
Kenny Dalglish was appointed as the caretaker manager of the club in January this year after Roy Hodgson resigned following a poor first half of the season. Dalglish has since brought the Reds back in contention for Europe and the club now sit in sixth place
in the Premier League with 45 points. Liverpool have seen a revival under their new manager and have put in some impressive performances over the past two months.
Skrtel said he would be overjoyed if Dalglish stays at the club in the years to come. The defender added that the manager has made things easier for his players and helped in building back the confidence of the side, which is the prime reason for the recent
success.
The Slovak told reporters, “If he gets a contract for a long time, I'll be very happy. We are winning games now. You can tell Kenny is a winner. He knows how to take the pressure away and protect the squad.”
The former Zenit St. Petersburg defender brushed aside rumours of an exit in the summer. He said that he wants to remain with Liverpool and claimed that the Merseyside club has the best fans in the world. Skrtel also heaped praise on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 along
with new signings Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, and admitted that he is proud to be a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 player.
The defender added, “Why would I go anywhere else? I know I am at a huge club - one of the biggest in the world, with a history and a set of supporters that no other club can really match. We have great players like Stevie Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
Not everybody gets to experience this. I am very proud to be here.”
