The Reds’ Slovakian central defender aiming for both Carling Cup and FA Cup success this term and rates both tournaments as having equal importance.
Liverpool currently sit seventh in the Barclays Premier League table and are not taking part in any European competition this season. However, they have been in fine form when it comes to the domestic cup competitions.
Having knocked out the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester City on their way to the Carling Cup final, which takes place on the 26th of February, the Reds are favourites to add another trophy to their cabinet.
They face off against Cardiff City and will prove to be an emotional affair for Liverpool striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471, who supported the club in his youth.
In the FA Cup, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 scored for the Merseyside club that was not short on providing entertainment for all those who witnessed
the occasion.
One Liverpool player is aiming for success in both tournaments and believes the team is capable of taking home both trophies.
Martin Skrtel has been in fine form this season, putting in a consistent run of impressive defensive displays and speaking to the club’s official magazine he stated, “Some people say the FA Cup is more important than the Carling Cup. I don’t see it that
way.”
He went on to elaborate, “They are both trophies, and if you win one or the other you qualify for Europe. I want to win both of them. I don’t think one is more important than the other.”
The player explained that the Carling Cup final would be his “chance to win my first trophy with Liverpool” and that he had the belief that his side would pull through when he said, “I believe we will win, but I know it won’t be easy. I think
it’ll be a very difficult game but I think we can get the cup.”
Liverpool are known to pay other clubs their due respect and one can expect nothing less from the Merseyside club as they face off against Cardiff City in what will be an important match for both sides.
