Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli hints at more arrivals and departures
Damien Comolli, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 director of football, revealed that Liverpool would continue bringing in new signings in the summer transfer window, with the Reds having completed the signings of Charlie Adam. The Blackpool midfielder became Liverpool’s second
signing in this transfer window, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 being their first.
The 21-year-old Sunderland midfielder Henderson arrived at Anfield for an inflated price of £16 million, Adam on the other hand was bought for much less. The Reds managed to sign the player for just £7.5 million on a long-term four year deal. Henderson was
most likely bought keeping the club’s future in mind, but the 25-year-old Adam will be expected to make an instant impact.
Comolli revealed the Reds had been extremely lucky in acquiring the targets they had identified in the beginning of the transfer window. With two of their major targets already present at Anfield, the Frenchman claimed Liverpool would make further signings.
He also hinted that some players could be heading towards a Liverpool exit, to make space for the new arrivals.
Comolli said while speaking to reporters:
“When you go into a transfer window you always have X number of targets and it's very rare you get all of them.
We're lucky we've got two of our priorities. That's good, and I'm sure there'll still be a lot of movement, especially going out but also, hopefully, a few more coming in.”
So far http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Milan-Jovanovic-c25793 have been linked with a move away, having failed to impress Kenny Dalglish. Offloading these players would definitely give Liverpool more funds to spend, if they wish to further spend in the summer. According
to Comolli, bringing in the right players was more important than bringing in big names.
So far, the Reds director of football felt his side had made excellent decisions in identifying and signing the right players. Comolli continued:
“You identify players in positions where you think you're weak or, if not weak, you think you can get better or add an extra body.
There is a strategy in terms of profile of players we want to bring in: the mentality, the attitude, the work ethic - and the age is also a factor.”
