http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 eye Manchester City’s Shay Given as Pepe Reina's replacement
It seems like Liverpool have nearly lost all the hope that they had of retaining the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shay-Given-c33284.
The fact that the team is being linked with keepers can only spell trouble at the club. However, the fact that Reina might be on his way out of the club at the end of the season, is something that everyone already assumed was bound to happen.
The Spanish shot-stopper has time and time again stated that his ultimate preference is to play in the UEFA Champions League and if Liverpool fail to qualify for Europe’s elite competition, then he would seriously re-consider his future at the club. With
Tottenham sitting five points ahead of the Reds in the fifth spot, it seems highly unlikely for the team to make the competition.
As a result, it is now believed that Reina might end up at either http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430, or Manchester United, depending on which team shows the most interest in the player.
Kenny Dalglish recently came forth and stated that Reina was happy at the club, however, that statement holds little truth as according to reports, even Dalglish is aware of Reina's interests.
At the same time, it is also widely believed that Shay Given is going to be on his way out of Eastlands at the end of the season. The keeper has made only one appearance for the team this term – which came in the League Cup. Given also came forth and stated
previously that should a team make an attempt to land him, he would seize the opportunity to make the switch.
Given had a brilliant last season with City, however, the progress that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 has shown at the club ultimately cost the 34-year-old his starting role between the sticks. Given was also linked with a number of moves out of Eastlands in January, but a move
failed to materialize back then.
Dalglish and Given have already worked together in the past, first at Blackburn (1994) and then at Newcastle United (1997). As a result, it seems the manager is well aware of what Given brings to the table and is willing to have him at Anfield.
