Liverpool fans: Opinions on this evenings game?

Question

I felt we were lacking in three areas that can (and hopefully will) be solved.

1. The lack of a natural winger was obvious and made it difficult for our midfield and strikers to get much space to control the game with it being so compact. The return of Ryan Babel or even giving Pennant a game would solve this issue.

2. We missed Mascherano. Plessis is very neat and tidy but when it comes to tackling and chasing in between our midfield and defence Masch is key to us. Sunderland had way too much time to play in our half without much pressure on the ball.

3. I have no idea why Benitez picked Hyypia over Agger. Sami almost let Diouf in early on and there's no doubt in my mind that Agger and Carragher could be the perfect partnership. We missed Agger's calmness and distribution like we did last season.

I was really impressed by Sunderland t.b.h, they are looking like a fantastic team. It wasn't That Liverpool played badly, just Sunderland put up a really good fight, giving gerrard & torres very little time on the ball.

Unfortunately, I could only keep up with text updates. The team I think need to gel and soon but 3 points from an away game is job done... My report would be, Nice start but must try harder.

I thought you got lucky,sunderland deserved a point,torres was the

difference(awesome goal),keane looked ordinary next to him.

Not the best start, but we got 3 points

first half was a worry. We didn't look like a top four team. we were weak an totally ordinary. Second half we started to look more composed an confident. Still lots to improve on but for the 1st game of the season it wasn't bad. I can see us going on to win the league. Once we have Babel back we'll look a lot more fearsome going forward.

yep we need a winger we need another mcmanaman type player to come in someone who will run at the defence maybe try pennant out

we will always miss mascherano Plessis is one for the future he can fill in but its alot to rely on him already

I have no idea what rafas thinking agger should be a automatic starter

1)True, Babel will be great when he returns though.

2)Yes, Mascherano is a born tackler and a hard man, Plessis is good but one for the future.

3)I agree, as good as Hyppia is, age is not on his side and Agger should always be first choice.

I thought we played only marginally better than the other night, luckily Sunderland were c**p too......we are defo missing Masch and Babel - Argentina knocked Holland out of the olympics today so at least we'll have Babel back soon but Masch wont be back for possibly another week if they beat Brazil.....

Pennant wasn't even on the bench today so don't know what's going on there......what did I take from the game? - well, we need to improve big time before we come up against one of the 'big' teams

Well i taught it was a typical opening match as sunderland were never going to over commit themselfs and just played for a draw.

1.) Yes we lack a winger but forget penant as he's dead wood but Ryan Babbel will be a star for us this season (mark my words)

2.) Plessis is a young kid but we should have started with Alonso.

masherano & alonso will be key to our seaon(if played together behind gerrard)

3.)I've no idea either, maybe he picked hyypia along side Carra because he will play Skrtel & Agger against Boro!
