Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt wants to stay at Anfield
Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has expressed his contentment over staying at Anfield and wants to commit his future with the Merseyside club.
The Dutch striker wants to sign a new contract with Liverpool that will see him stay at Anfield for a few more years.
The 30-year-old told Liverpool’s official website, “My contract has one more season to go after this but there are things happening. We have had some talks and I can only say it looks positive. I feel at home in Liverpool and I don't want to leave here.”
Kuyt’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2012 but the Dutchman has expressed his desire to end his career at Liverpool.
He joined Liverpool from the Dutch side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and has emerged as the most-hardworking player in the Barclays Premier League.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348, who has also become a Kop favourite in recent times, has the unique attribute of playing in different positions. He is originally a striker and has been in the attacking centre forward role at his former club. However, Liverpool former manager,
Rafael Benitez, opted to use him on the wings and since then Kuyt has been playing on the flanks.
But since the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Dirk Kuyt has been playing once again at the central attacking role.
Kuyt, who has scored 56 goals for Liverpool in 227 appearances, said, “It has been a difficult time for everyone at the club with the changes that have happened since last summer but now I can sense something good is happening - I think Liverpool are on
the way back.”
The 30-year-old has hailed the impact of new Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and claimed that good times are yet to come. The Reds are still in revival phase after enduring two horrendous seasons in the Premier League.
